Antonin Dvorak (1841-1904)
1841 - Born in Nelahozeves near Prague which at the time was part of the Austrian Empire.
1847 - Began primary school and learned violin.
1854 - Moves to live with his uncle in the town of Zlonice and learns violin, piano, organ, and the German language.
1857 - Moves to Prague to begin studying organ at the Prague Conservatory.
1862 - Dvorak becomes a violist in the Provisional Theatre Orchestra in Prague, and also composes his first string quartet.
1871 - Dvorak leaves the Provisional Theatre Orchestra to devote more time to composing.
1872 - Dvorak's music is performed for the first time during a concert in Prague of his Opus 5 Piano Quintet.
1873 - Dvorak marries Anna Cermakova with whom he would have an eventual nine children, six of which live into adulthood.
