The Ninth Symphony

Dvorak's 9th and final Symphony was composed in 1983 during Dvorak's residency in the United States as the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America.

Subtitled "From the New World", Dvorak's 9th incorporates the folk styles of Native American, African American, and Caucasian American music into a four movement orchestral work structured along the lines of the Classical Period Symphony. The piece also contains elements of Dvorak's uniquely Czech orchestral accent.

The New World Symphony was a massive success internationally and is widely regarded as one of the greatest symphonic works of all time.
